If you haven’t been to Chester County Art Association for awhile, you owe it to yourself to stop by. New director Karen Delaney and her equally energetic staff have been hard at work to ensure that their programs offer something for everyone.
What’s new starts outside, with Christo-inspired orange banners and a signboard that always has something fun to read.
Fun and enthusiasm are part of what is new at CCAA, beginning with a warm greeting when you walk through the door. You didn’t just imagine it, the shows in the two galleries ARE more professional than ever. And there’s an atmosphere that didn’t exist before: A show with a tree theme has beautiful living trees from Agway to enhance the art. A holiday show is designed like a European street festival with tents, mulled wine and tiny lights.
There are several new instructors to provide you with everything from in-depth courses to inexpensive weekly workshops. Basketweaving? Batik? Byzantine bracelets? Let’s do this!!!
Karen is particularly excited about renovations to the Clay department in preparation for a two day Clay Days show coming in early October. Several new classes and an open studio are now available for those of us who would like to find out whether doing some 3-D projects will make our paintings that much better.
Fundraising for expansion planned at CCAA is still underway, so you won’t find granite countertops in the bathrooms. But you might just find more of what really matters.
