PENN MED GROUP EXHIBITIONS AT RADNOR AND VALLEY FORGE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Exhibitors must submit original works for all shows. Copies, prints or any type of reproductions will be rejected by the Chairperson of the Group Exhibition Committee. No work may be submitted for jurying for the same venue where it has previously been shown. It may, however, be re-entered for jurying in another DVAL show.

All work will be pre-juried by an outside professional juror (with the exception of the board/volunteer show) who will be pre-determined by the Juror Chairperson.

If a painting is smaller than 16” x 16”, the artist must sign a disclaimer stating they do so at their own risk and that the venue will not be liable for theft.

All work to be juried must have an entry label attached to the back (top left corner) and be delivered between 10AM and 1PM the day of scheduled jury. No work will be accepted after 1PM when the jury process begins.

Click here to download a PDF of DVAL exhibit labels.

Each qualified artist member is permitted to submit one (1) piece of work to be juried unless otherwise specified. The fee is $10 ($5 for board members) payable upon submission of entry. If members are permitted to submit more than one (1) piece of work, and additional fee may be charged for each piece submitted.

Jurying will be done in a secure place during the general meeting and may run longer than the meeting. When jurying is complete the membership will be notified to pick up their work and at that time advised if work is accepted (acceptance slip attached to back of work).

Only Exhibition Chairpersons will be permitted to be present during the jurying process to assist juror and advise as to the number of pieces the juror is to select. The Chairpersons will have no input as to what pieces are chosen or which members receive awards or prizes, this is the sole responsibility of the juror.

Prizes awarded are: First Place ($100), Second Place ($50), Third Place ($25). Five Merit Awards ($15) may also be awarded. Memorial Awards may be substituted for Merit Awards when available. Purchase Prizes are awarded at specified shows (which is the price of prize winning painting, not to exceed $350) only if the artist wishes to be considered when submitting piece to jury. When available, Sponsor Awards may also be awarded.

If a painting is juried into a show and is not delivered or hung in that show, the Chairpersons may prohibit the artist from exhibiting at that venue in the next two (2) consecutive shows.

If an artist brings a painting to a show that deviates from the one juried in, it will be rejected at delivery by the Chairperson and the artist may be prohibited from exhibiting at that venue in the next two (2) consecutive shows.

Prior to jurying or hanging, paintings will be rejected if they are not properly framed, have unsightly mats, damaged frames or do not have wire strong enough to support work and allow hanging. If screw eyes are used they must be padded with heavy tape to prevent injury to other paintings. Oil paintings must be dry and must be framed or have neat, painted sides. The Exhibition Chairpersons alone may reject a painting (with the advice of members of that committee who may recommend this action). If possible the artist may be given the opportunity to make repairs if done within the specified delivery time. All artists are respectfully asked to keep in mind that these are public shows when choosing their subject matter.

Delivery hours are 9:30 to 10:30 on date specified.

All work must be signed in by artist at delivery and again when picking up work at the end of show.

If an artist is unable to deliver or pick up their work at specified times they are responsible for arranging a substitute in their absence. A fine of $20 will be charged for failure to do so. In addition, they will be prohibited from entering the next show at that venue. Further, there will be no reimbursement for damage or loss of those works which are not picked up.

If the weather is such that it is questionable or not possible to deliver or pick up paintings, exhibitors will be notified by email, phone-chain list, announcements on KYW 1060, or on our Web site, www.Delawarevalleyartleague.com.

Prices may not be changed nor can any piece be removed or substituted before the end of the exhibition unless sold. No painting may be moved, once hung, by anyone other than Chairperson of Exhibitions of that venue. Paintings which are sold are not required to stay the duration of the show and may be replaced with a non-juried painting. The label for the replacement painting will reflect that this is a non-juried piece.

The Exhibition Chairperson MUST be notified when a painting is sold. All arrangements of sales and delivery to purchaser must be made by the artist. The removal or replacement of the sold painting must be made at specified times on specific days.

RADNOR: Tuesday and Thursday only, between the hours of 9AM and 12 noon only. The artist must check in with Penn Med Security at the front desk.

VALLEY FORGE: Please arrange to meet buyer in main floor lobby area after calling the co-chairs to arrange day and time to remove/exchanging painting.
